Research & Innovation Chief visits EMSP
At SAMS, Sir Mark Walport heard about work in the areas of marine renewable energy innovations, climate change studies in the Artic and the use of robotics to explore the environment, and about advances in growing sustainable food in the marine environment.
At Malin House, HIE managers provided an update on plans for the next phase of the European Marine Science Park.
Morven Cameron, Head of Universities, Education & Skills at HIE said ; "The Highlands and Islands is home to some amazing research and innovation projects and facilities, that contribute directly to regional growth. We were delighted to welcome Sir Mark to the region and to have had the chance to showcase some of these projects during his visit. In particular, we have highlighted the strong economic impacts resulting from two decades of close collaboration between HIE and the University of the Highlands & Islands".
